About the Seckrit Lab
The Seckrit Lab is a place for an engineer to do their best work, at irregular hours, for reasons that made sense at the time.
I'm a Director of Software Engineering working in Complex Rehab Technology — the end of healthcare where the stakes are high and the legacy systems are old. I've spent the better part of a decade in this industry building things at enterprise scale and now I'm thinking carefully about what that means when AI is doing more of the implementation work every year. I've been writing The Magic Words that Make Lightning Move through Rocks since I was six, working in Basic on an Apple //C.
This is where I publish essays on software architecture, AI-assisted development, and the engineering practices I think actually matter in this transition. Since working in or near healthcare means moving slowly and safely with your data, my personal projects here are my outlet and innovation lab.
Monthly, roughly. Longer than a LinkedIn post, shorter than a book. Aimed at practitioners who want to think, not just ship.
